Tala is a British lighting company founded in 2015 by three friends from Edinburgh University. The founders saw design as a way to speed the transition to a world with lower carbon emissions. Today, the company is headquartered in London, where it also has a showroom that offers free design consultations. LED technology has been central to its work since the beginning. Its bulbs are designed to use little energy and have a long lifespan. High CRI is one of its specialties; its bulb development also includes low flicker and Dim-to-Warm technology.

Tala's approach to sustainability extends to what happens when a light needs attention. It designs lighting to be repaired and taken apart, and identifies circular design and responsible sourcing as priorities. Aluminum and hardwoods are among the recyclable materials it uses, with the aim of keeping products in use longer. Its published design priorities also include reducing plastic and lowering environmental impact. Becoming a zero-carbon lighting brand remains a stated ambition. Tala is a certified B Corp. It has also supported international reforestation projects through funding for tree planting.
